Statement from the Artist

My intent in composition is to acquire a look that appears visually effortless. To me my work is successful when the forms carry no question to their shape, content or being. All aspects simply exist without tension, and hopefully the eye or mind wouldn’t change a thing.

Saluki is inspired by both nature and folk art. A little more primitive in design, with a playful contrasting color palette that reminds me of a vacation destination. I started with the dark base in acrylic medium and added layer upon layer of wet washes and dry brushing to create depth in color. I also sanded and applied stains to create a luminous finish.
